Grassland Visit To Longnor

Good day catching up with the professionals. We looked at the soil and its importance for plant development. Grassland plant breading, the choice of varieties of grass and clover and the inclusion of deep rooted herbs (particularly plantain and chicory). The new diploid varieties of grass offer yield, longevity and D-value (digestibility value): Abber Magic being the one with the most potential - well done the Welsh again.
We heard of developments in modifying ruminant activity aiming toward better financial returns.

Hi, hurrah for rain today and the past three days, breaking the long dry period. We may get silage after all! I hear thunder roaring so likely to get another downpour hope it is not hail again.
This afternoon we took old ewes to Ludlow market, not too many there, so hope the cold weather encourages the appetite and we get a good price. Some cattle are still in until feed supplies are no more-any day. In the garden the Iris are in full bloom, the blossoms are going over, many fruits have set but this weather will probably knock it off.
We host family /school visits. Post if your interested.
Toys at the shop have not been selling well but children have probably been out in the sunshine.
